Bicho Carpinteiro (PT)

BICHO CARPINTEIRO were born in Lisbon, with origins in the Beira Baixa and Ribatejo regions. They play two almost extinct traditional guitars: Viola Beiroa and Viola Toeira, mixing them with beats, synthesizers and voice samples collected by ethnomusicologists in rural Portugal in the 60s.

With their just-released debut album, they put on a show worthy of any dance club, and the lights and video contribute to building an augmented reality, saturated with tradition, which we can call “augmented tradition”.
