IVAN MELIN QUINTET (BG)
Ivan Mario Melin is a fourth-generation trombonist of Bulgarian-Czech descent. His musical journey begins at an early age. During his studies, he has the opportunity to learn from and work with some of the most prominent names and educators in the field, including Ilja Reijngoud, Jan Jirucha, Bart van Lier, Andy Hunter, Bert Boeren, among others. Over the years, Ivan Melin has developed a parallel musical career in both Bulgaria and the Czech Republic being part of the most prestigious Bulgarian and Czech orchestras and music formations. He has worked with artists such as Dimitar Liolev, Theodosii Spassov, Michel Camilo, Jiggs Whigham, Richard Bona, Gunhild Carling, and more.
In 2020, he took part in the recordings of the albums Big Band Electronics by Kotacha Orchestra, released by the American label “Parma Music,” and Light of Blue by the Lukas Oravec Orchestra, both awarded with “best jazz album”. Over the years, he has participated in the recordings of numerous albums across various genres and international tours in Europe, Asia and New Zealand. Since 2022, he has led his own jazz quintet, for which he composes original music and in 2025 he releases his debut album called “The Beginning of Authenticity”.
