RAQUEL KURPERSHOECK (ES/NL)
Raquel Kurpershoek Jaldón, born in 1998 in Amsterdam and raised between the Netherlands and Spain, is a multifaceted artist whose passion for music began at a young age. She honed her skills across various musical genres at the Rotterdam Conservatory of World Music Codarts, specialising in Latin American music. Raquel's talent has garnered recognition through numerous awards and accolades. She emerged victorious in prestigious competitions like the Prinses Christina Jazz Concours (2016) and the Zoetermeer Jazz Concours (2016). Additionally, she achieved acclaim at the Andrea Parodi World Music Festival in Italy, where she received the International Prize, Best Music Award, and the International Bianco D’Aponte Prize in 2022. In 2023, she was honoured with the Young Researchers Award in the Art category from the Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters of Huelva. Raquel's debut EP, "Mil Cosas," is a testament to her musical journey, offering a vibrant exploration of Latin American influences. Her latest project, "NIZAMI," pays homage to the mediaeval Persian author and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi's work, "The 7 wise princesses," infusing autobiographical symbolism into a captivating blend of magic, colour, and love. Through "NIZAMI," Raquel channels her artistic vision into a mesmerising musical poetry, showcasing her ability to weave stories and emotions through her compositions.
