SERGE ANANOU (FR)
Serge Ananou's music is African, but incorporates contributions from funk, blues and jazz. Accompanied on stage by 4 experienced and musically generous musicians, he adapts his show to suit the audience, sharing his enthusiasm, positive energy, values and emotions. In 2017, he released his very first album entitled Bônou. The lyrics, entirely composed by himself, tackle social themes such as: destiny, minorities in Africa and Europe, albinism, his origins, violence against women, etc.
Serge Ananou released "Akôwé", his second album under his own AÏHA label, in 2021. The 12-track album was produced between Paris and Bonn, Germany, in collaboration with some twenty musicians from different backgrounds and cultures. Akôwé, which means "Intellectual", is the story of a colonized man trying to defend his dual culture. The one inherited from his ancestors and the one left behind by the colonizer. A musical syncretism blending West African rhythms and songs with influences from Jazz, Funk, Blues, Pop, etc... Akôwé speaks of love, freedom, perseverance, hope and the protection of nature.
