TOMOKI SANDERS (USA)
Tomoki Sanders (they/them) are one of the most exciting emerging voices on the New York scene. First brought to wider attention at Winter JazzFest, they carry the legacy of their father, the legendary Pharoah Sanders, while forging a distinct and forward-looking artistic identity. Over the past years, Tomoki have been active as part of Kassa Overall’s supergroup and as a curator of their own Tomo Tuesdays series, showcasing the new generation of New York musicians.
Their music moves fluidly across Great Black Music, avant-garde, electronic, and urban sound worlds, creating a bold and hybrid sonic language. Drawing connections to the historic Impulse! era while resonating with the energy of artists like Kamasi Washington and Shabaka Hutchings, Tomoki Sanders bridge past and future with remarkable personality. Their debut album, set for release in 2026, marks the next step in an already compelling artistic journey.
